Personal Profile

With a B.S. in Math Education and M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision, both from the University of Virginia, my work background includes five years as a mathematics teacher and sixteen years as principal or assistant principal in middle and high schools. Entering a New York Life career in 1995 I have worked diligently for now over eighteen years to afford my clientele the service they desire in an insurance professional.

Each of my first three years as an agent, I earned the New York Life New Agent Award for the Richmond General Office.  Since then I have received the Richmond General Office Agent of the Year Award twice and Runner-up Agent of the Year twice. This year is my fifteenth year as a Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table* (2015) and thirteenth year as a Member of the New York Life President’s or Chairman’s Council (CC 2015 & PC 2013 and 2014).  I am a member of the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters (AALU), Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), as well as the newly elected President of Richmond-NAIFA.  I have my Chartered Life Underwriter CLU®, Chartered Financial Consultant ChFC® and Certified Financial Planner CFP® designations. All of these achievements enable me to better serve my clients as I continue to grow my experience and knowledge.

My family consists of my loving wife, Kathie, and our two grown children; William and Melissa, a grandson, Zeke, and granddaughters, Emery, Isabel Grace and Josephine. Putting children through college, while preparing for eventual retirement and assisting elderly parents, has led me to have to deal with many of the same issues my clients face. When my father died late in 1995, I got a first hand experience with the miracle of life insurance and the difficulty of settling an estate.

My community is of the utmost importance to me.  I am committed to giving back and am blessed to sit on the boards of the Jamestown 4-H Education Center and Covenant Woods Continuing Care Retirement Community.  I am President of the Northeast Richmond Gideons and am an active member in my church, Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church.  In the past I served on the Board of Hanover Habitat for Humanity for twelve years.

Putting me to work for you brings a commitment of caring. I will help your family make the most serious financial decisions of life with the products and services I offer.
